Music at Grace, whether from the pipes of our organ or from the pipes of our Summer Music Campers, is a key component of our worship. Our Welsh Memorial Organ was designed and built in 1996 by Parsons Pipe Organ Builders, Canandaigua, NY. This instrument, which required approximately 5600 hours to design and build, was installed by the Grace congregation and was given to the Glory of God and in memory of the Welsh Family of Baltimore by Katharine E. Welsh.
Adult Choir: Try singing, it's good for you! The challenges and rewards of choral singing are great, and the Adult Choir at Grace offers an opportunity to experience both. Rehearsals take place every Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Choir Room. If you are interested in joining the choir, please contact Millie Wiley at millieb@va.metrocast.net. All who wish to share their talents to the glory of God through singing are welcome.
Children's Choir at Grace is an exciting, kid-friendly way to participate in our 10:30 a.m. worship service. Interested singers range in age from Kindergarten through 6th grade. The Children's Choir sings on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. Rehearsal is 3:45 - 4:30 p.m. on the Tuesday before these Sundays. On scheduled Sundays, the choir meets at 9:45 a.m. for a quick review of its song, and then attends Godly Play until singers join the worship service at the appropriate time. Opportunities exist for small group singing, solos, and frequent collaborations with the Adult Choir. Tuesday carpools are in place for students at Lancaster Middle and Primary Schools, as well for Chesapeake Academy students. Schedules are available online (at bottom of page) and hard copies can be picked up in the Choir Room. Please contact Beth Somers at 435-3627 for more information. We have room for lots of singers!
Summer Music Camp is a five day (Monday - Friday) music and drama program for children entering Kindergarten and older. Open to members of Grace and to the entire community, Music Camp teaches group and solo singing, acting in a musical production, and music appreciation, culminating in a Friday afternoon performance enjoyed by friends and families.
The mission of the Grace Music Camp is to bring the stories of the Bible and of God’s love to the youth of Grace and the community at large through musical productions and associated arts and crafts.
